Nice to see you back, Quisp.

@bgbird68 Thank you so much.

@PeoriaDotCom: Here's what's been happening. On the morning of January 19th the site wouldn't let me log on. I could see the thread topics and read the comments, but not log on. I kept trying, but no dice.

After a couple of weeks, I could see the thread topics, but if I tried to click on the thread to read the comments, I couldn't. I would get the message, "It appears you are posting from a proxy or a vpn."

So I tried every device in the house and figured it was our WiFi. Since then I got a new phone. I thought maybe that was the problem.

Look, I don’t know where things went wrong. I don't recall my husband changing our WiFi at all. Maybe the problem is on my end and it needs to be fixed. I'll contact my husband tonight.

And that's another thing I haven't shared. We went through a layoff that sent my husband out of state. I only see him on Saturdays and part of Sundays, or else I'd be in the car and road-tripping to this gathering for Sugar Bear in a heartbeat.

When I saw this thread, it finally occurred to me to try to shut off the WiFi to log in. And it worked. Sorry, sometimes the learning curve for idiot me goes in spirals.

When I turn the WiFi back on, I still get blocked. I'll talk to my husband tonight.

I'm sorry. Quisp.

@QuispNQuake -- Sending you a PM, it may be better to keep off this thread. You were definitely not blocked on purpose on my end.

It's a shock to see Billy's obituary in today's Journal Star. I've appreciated him over the years as an old-fashioned local reporter, with a passion for getting the stories about what was happening in Peoria.

One didn't need to agree with him -- heaven knows he and I saw many things in very different lights -- to be glad that he was carrying the torch, in print or on-line, for a journalism that was once a hallmark of cities and towns across this nation. Peoria's been a better place because of Billy Dennis. I'll miss him. Requiescat in pace.

Monday works for me. Diet Pepsi it is! Set a time. You won't be able to please everyone. Those that can and want to come to the place at the time you say, will be there. Emoticon

You said it best. How can one top that? Peoria will never be the same without Billy. I still can't hardly believe it. It's just heart breaking.

By the way, Billys parents are accepting donations for his arrangements. In addition to losing a beloved son, this will strain their finances. If anyone wants to make a donation let me know and I can pass along their contact info.

So we were thinking about maybe taking up a collection to help Billy's parents at the Tuesday night get together. How does that sound? No pressure just a basket in which people can put voluntary donations if they feel so led.
