@HipKat

Well for starters the post was about Peoria, not how Peoria compares to Pekin. Secondly, pointing out all of the reasons you left Peoria is certainly not the original intent of the thread. That thread should be called "Why did you leave Peoria?"

I giving you a hard time, Yankee.

Oh and one of them turds you just got done slapping a coat of paint on is using my street as the down low parking lot for their side business.

Even though I was hatred-filled from day 1, I'd say I gave it a lot of time, 9 years, living in King's Park, Forrest Hill/N. Gale area, University/Gale then the East Bluff. Those are the places I lived because those are the places I could afford to live, while I was being underpaid.

I was not the first person, btw, to make comparisons in this thread to another town. I've also never met 1 single person who lives outside of Peoria that wishes they could move to or live in Peoria. Not one.

@Dave, I know, and you've been doing that a lot since I got back on here.
So do you miss Monday nights in "The Lex" yet?

@meanjarhead I will break my words to myself to refrain from commenting directly on anything you post, but I must say I have not insulted you on here and I don't appreciate your insulting me ("sand in the head"). I realize you couldn't care less. I also must say that I had nothing to do with the touch-ups/improvement in the designated Core area. I assume you have reported the "side business" to the appropriate authorities along with photos and license numbers of vehicles in the "parking lot".

@RambleOn Its head in the sand, The everything is honky dory is the problem, WE HAVE SHOT SPOTTER HERE, which means there was so many shootings the the city decided that they needed to spend money they don't have to make this thing come here. We also have a 4th shift police officer, Which means crime is so bad here the city decided to spend the money to add another shift to this place. You thought it was great to have these things, I think WOW This place is so screwed up we need these things?

@meanjarhead The thread is why do you stay. So I take it these are the reasons you stay. Because you like the killings that are going on. In this thread of positives this is all you brought to the table. Yes and directed this to you. So now you can call me names make fun of my beliefs and cut me down because I am not educated.

CHICAGO (CBS) — When it comes to violent crime outside of Chicago, Rockford ranks in the most dangerous town in the state, according to 2013 FBI crime statistics.

The violent crime rate for that northwest Illinois town of 150,000 stands at 1,374 per 100,000 residents. Violent crime includes murders, rapes, robberies and property crimes, like burglary and car theft.

There were 19 reported murders in Rockford, ranking No. 1 outside of Chicago (414 murders). Peoria reported 16 murders.

South suburban Harvey, with a population of only about 25,500, had an alarmingly high 10 murders.

For suburban Chicago, Aurora is ranked No. 1 with a crime rate of about 300 per 100,000 residents.

The study compiled FBI violent crime statistics to determine the rankings.

According to the FBI report, Chicago is not included because the FBI believes crime in the city is under-reported and specifically doesn’t properly classify the number of rapes. Not surprisingly, even without those numbers, the city has the highest crime rate in the state, considering its size and population density.

Without including rapes and aggravated assaults, there were about 12,229 violent crimes and 95,908 property crimes in Chicago in 2013 — a total of 108,137 crimes. There were 414 murders, and more than 11,000 robberies. The property offenses include crimes like burglary and arson.

Not including Chicago, here are the 10 Illinois cities with the most violent crime:

1. Rockford
2. Springfield
3. Peoria
4. Champaign
5. Aurora
6. Joliet
7. Harvey
8. Waukegan
9. Bloomington
10. Decatur

The FBI cautions against drawing blanket conclusions from the rankings, saying there are many factors that affect crime.

“Each year when Crime in the United States is published, some entities use the figures to compile rankings of cities and counties. These rough rankings provide no insight into the numerous variables that mold crime in a particular town, city, county, state, tribal area, or region. Consequently, they lead to simplistic and/or incomplete analyses that often create misleading perceptions adversely affecting communities and their residents.”
