Sid is an insider! If I recall PJS reported that he is a partner with Peoria County Board chairman Andrew Rand and he voted for the tax increases in last years budget!

@Byron : Fair enough, but let the voters decide, not some crybaby who's lying to the newspaper and abusing power to get his way!!

I won't give you my spiritual view of this thread, it should be obvious.
Instead, would you please select one of the below listed statements that best reflects your position:

1
Rules were made, to avoid kaos.

2
Rules, are made to be broken.

3
We don't need no stinkin' Rules

Anybody else can also participate.

@TheOneStopHomeShop : First, thank you.

Second, my view is an add-on to #1: There are those who are evil enough to insist on only abiding by the letter of the law, and completely disregard the spirit of the law.

If our world were ruled entirely by such people, every single one of us, including Crybaby, would have a rap sheet a mile long. Whether or not we had been caught.

Scratch that. We'd have a rap sheet that would circle the globe, because not one of us could be in error of any law in any way.

If Diaper Dan O'Day, who spends who knows how many hours commenting on just about every article in the Journal Star, gets his way, it will be a crime.

Because the precedent will have been set for one person to use the minutia of the law to force people to comply with the letter of the law, therefore abusing power.

They all made the same mistake. The spirit of the law will have been overlooked.

@joepyeweed there are 2 vacancies to finish what's left of a 4 year term, so these spots will be on the ballot again in 2019. weaver and spain's spots are the 2 at large seats being contested this year. there are about 7 people running for those positions. that number may be less on wednesday.

all 5 of the districts are on the ballot for a 4 year term. some of the races are contested.

So I guess that is what is confusing, so some of the at-large seats up for election this ballot are full terms and some are vacancies?

@joepyeweed all of the at large seats are/were up in 2015, 2019, 2023, 2027 ...
all of the district seats are/ were up in 2013, 2017, 2021, 2025....

the only reason there are at large seats up this year is because weaver and spain have moved on to the state legislature. they are having special 2 year term elections for these seats. when sandberg died it happened to be just before the regular 2015 election so there was no special election that year. they don't allow appointments to be more than 2 years, which is a good thing.

@joepyeweed

Ergo The Mighty Dan is chuffed that some of of the prospective at-large candidates circled "full term" on their filing instead of "vacancy", and is demanding that those wretched shysters, who clearly are out to deceive the voters to no end, be burned at the stake!!!!!

All the while the one candidate who happens to work at The Mighty Dan's law firm escapes unscathed.

The rest go **POOF!** in the flames of The Mighty Dan's letter of the law!!!

And if that happens, you'll be witness to the biggest, most obvious case of corruption as of late. In classic Peoria style.

And I'll make sure my contact in D.C. picks up on the story if it happens. I was already communicating to the person about it this morning.

@ricardo According to the election commissions website they were suppose to decide today. However it must be Wed. since I see nothing on the web about any decision.

Take a look at the map of the districts! Compare it to Nichols' address, 12300 Brentfield Drive. No one can convince me that the man set out to deceive anyone. NO ONE.

This whole thing is a sham!!! Who gave him the wrong information before he filed????????

This whole thing is a crock! Shame on Peoria if O'Day gets away with this!!
