And I don't want someone who's not even a resident on the ballot to decide where my tax dollars go.

@cjsummers : I'll take a substitute teacher in Peoria Public Schools, like Nichols, ANY DAY! Because I STILL pay property taxes, over half of which goes to the school district.

Since you live out of town yourself,

@cjsummers : It does bother me. I still own property in Peoria. I still pay taxes in Peoria. I still pay attention to what goes on in Peoria. Therefore, I still speak out on what I think is not right.

@QuispNQuake: Should I say Ruckriegel is European-American? I'm not saying that's Day's motivation, but that it's true.

your local city council?

@cjsummers : Let me tell you about the local city council where I live and ALSO pay taxes:

One member is always exposing his family jewels, and has been for decades, to the children and neighbors who live around him. Yet the good ol' boys protect him. He recently agreed to "counseling", which, under the technicalities of the law, is NOT an admission of guilt. And they are keeping him on the city council.

Another member, upon hearing that a local apartment complex was on fire and that several families were out of housing, tweeted, "Don't they know that it's illegal to burn within the city limits?". And when the one citizen who is the "watchdog" of the council meetings, brought this disgusting tweet to the attention to the city council, only ended up being shouted down by said council member, to the shame of all the other council members present. I watched it myself on Youtube.

I have purposely stayed out of the politics of this backwards, inbreeding sundown town which is a third of the size of Peoria. Because I would go insane. It is a complete culture shock for me to live here.

And yet if my husband's job had not been outsourced, we would not be here. So what can I say????

As long as I am paying money, I am never, EVER shutting up!!!!

Gee, there's 130 views on this thread. So let me say something else. The Mighty Dan has also said in the comments, "Let's drain the swamp."

I'm just an Independent throwing that out there. He says he's acting in the interest of the citizens, but it's clear he has an agenda.

@Byron : Is it? I haven't looked it up. I just know that Sid has been one of the biggest advocates for the East Bluff. And other areas. And has made himself readily available. Now why would someone want to do away with that????

Why the heck is The Mighty Dan on a witch hunt????

@QuispNQuake :

WE don't. Someone with an agenda or has someone else in their pocket, does.

do you think people who live in Dunlap should be able to represent people who live in Peoria?

@cjsummers : The guy works as a substitute teacher in Peoria Public Schools. I don't think he purposely set out to do wrong.

To answer your question: you're asking the wrong person. I was forced to move from Peoria, while still owning property in Peoria. I have a different perspective that people may not understand.

Why? There are certain reasons why I still own property in Peoria. Which is why I keep a close eye on what goes on in Peoria.

If it's the law that a council member must live within the city limits, then only those who live within the city limits can represent Peoria.

Does Ardis have to disclose his wife's income?

The other objections should be interesting to his petition: Not being present while your petitions are signed and taking a page from a petition of another perspective candidate. Could any of these latter 2 even be true?

Of course. You must be new, to our fair city.

Dan Oday is a useless person. He's the type of attorney that gives them all the stereotype.

These challenges on the council spot are a problem to me. It's hard enough to get good people to run for these spots. Adding another layer of complexity and loopholes will further prevent good people from running. And

A full term equals 4 years. So while Day might be getting technical the candidates he is objecting to should have had their facts straight. Other candidates got their petitions right.
