So while Day might be getting technical the candidates he is objecting to should have had their facts straight.

@Byron : Where can anyone see a copy of what they had to fill out? Until a blank copy is seen, and the fact that O'Day is dragging out a court case from '03, this thing still stinks like a rotting corpse.

So here's my opinion: of course they would all circle "full term"!! At the present moment, one position remains vacant, and the other "vacancy" is currently occupied by Sid Ruckriegel.

It would only make sense that those applying for the positions would circle "full term", because Spain is now history, and Ruckriegel is having to now start all over to keep his position! Doesn't it strike you that they ALL DID IT????

This whole thing stinks to high heaven, and if Crybaby O'Day gets away with this, then the city has given Mr. Diapers With Plastic Pants the power to do this to anyone. All because someone circled the wrong word.

Well get out the torches and pitchforks and run the offenders out of town!!! SMDH!

On the other hand, regarding Ardis, I do see a problem with him

@cjsummers : I'm not sure what to think about the Ardis matter. It just stands out to me that O'Day clearly had an agenda against the at-large candidates, and it's not for the reason he states in the article.

If he's allowed to get away with his immature shenanigans against the at-large candidates, I hope they run his power-hungry self out of town!

@QuispNQuake
somebody oday works with is running too. I thought you would have connected the dots by now. and ruckriegel is the elite insider in this election already appointed by the machine.

@ricardo : Yes, I know O'Day works with someone who is running. Thus his quote in the paper is a bold-faced lie. A BOLD-FACED LIE.

As far as Ruckriegel being part of the "elite": I wish I could be a lot more specific and state how helpful and accessible he has been to certain not-for-profit groups in Peoria, and to certain families in need. But I have to stay anonymous.

Plus, Ruckriegel still has to win the position.

I'm furious that O'Day is abusing power, plain and simple, to, in his own words, "Drain the swamp!"

Let the voters decide, not some ***-chapped attorney.

@QuispNQuake
as far as I can tell ruckriegel is a good guy. I still have not decided who I vote for yet. an ideal candidate for me has not appeared yet.

There's really nothing noteworthy here. Every time there's an election, the petitions are scrutinized, and if found wanting, they are challenged. Council members are required to read and pass ordinances that are full of fine minutiae that the residents and businesses in the city have to follow. Is it too much to ask that the candidates themselves follow the rules? I don't think so.

@cjsummers :
Well said!

@cjsummers and crisp: Riggenbach in the 3rd will likely have no challenger since the only person to turn in petitions to run against him did not turn in an economic interest sheet. Fair? Probably not, but that's the law.

Yes, I do think Day is up to something, but keep in mind if he gets Sid off the ballot he challenged 2 others for the same reason.

Same issue with Ardis ballot being challenged by Miller. If the mayor was suppose to include his wife's income and did not then there is that possibility that he could get tossed.

Does anyone know if a person can run as a write-in if their name gets kicked off the ballot? Could a challenger run in the 3rd as a write-in?

@cjsummers: Good points!

Who knows maybe O'Day has been one of the viewers of this thread! Cool!
