Personally I believe others are responsible for District 1 woes. From fear flight, slum lords, criminals and council members. We have lived on the South End of Peoria for about 14 yrs now, we both work in the 1st district, our kids went to Manual High. The South End is not a ****hole we and the City knows this, just take a look at what the future plans are for 1st District, prime property to snatch up and hang on to, why else would the City let so many of these properties fall into ruin? Cheap property, no worries or hassles to do as they please with it. Plenty of room for them apartments in the South End plus it will bring money to the area. With the new store on Western should come out smelling like a rose.

Some local media members do provide inaccurate and/or distorted information from time to time. The West Bluff area has been expanded to the Southside, Near North Side, East Bluff and Center Bluff at various time in various stories.

I actually thought the commercial was accurate. The story was rather weak, though, for all Mrs. Moore's complaints. Where's her outrage over the shootings, home invasions, and other things going on down there.

@meanjarhead What are the elements that make the South End a ****hole? Do you live in Peoria? A cynic will never see anything good. I'm thankful for learning that one person can make a difference and that it doesn't matter where you live but how you live. There is no doubt that there are issues that need to be addressed, I don't know of anyone who is turning a blind eye to them, rather they are putting more focus on what is good and trying to build up from there.

@Jessie67 When you are at a park(logan center) and the guys playing basketball are being watched by TOFU, Its a *******. When your are on a peace walk and the sidewalks can't be used because of the garbage and over growth its a *** ****, When you have a fund raiser down there and the winner of the fund raiser gets an armed escort to their car its a *** ****. When you go to national night out and the houses on that street are 75% Abandoned guess what? *** ****. When the street sweeper goes through and they need 5 times more dump trucks because of the litter. Its a *** **** that the people that live there don't care about. When you can't keep business open because of the theft *******, When a group of teenagers tries to mug the Dr. Pepper guy *** ****. When you run a route and you go through 3 pallets of NEHI in one day, Your in a *** ****. And when Beckers land bank and mothball 485 houses, Its a *** **** that has very very bad plans for it.
