@meanjarhead I've never defended crime, ever! My point is, the South End is not a ****hole! Crime happens more frequently in sections of towns and cities where economic segregation has been practiced for decades, that is a fact! I have a greater chance of being killed by a DUI driver than I do by gang violence. Not saying one is worse than the other, it's just a statistical fact. Just like I don't let the fear of other drivers stop me from driving, I'm not going to let fear of crime stop where I choose or how I live. The crime in Peoria is not a unique phenomenon, it is everywhere. In the news tonight a 35 yr old man was arrested today for his participation of the death of a 19 yr old. Does that make all 35 yr old men, disgusting pieces of ****?

Moore got paid $1000 at the last meeting for her radio station.

@jimthompson :

Actually, from the agenda for this meeting:

"BACKGROUND: The City has for some time utilized services of WPNV, a local radio station, to advertise for City employment, contracting and purchasing events, and career fairs held by the City in an effort to attract a more diverse workforce. In March of 2016, the City received the invoices for these services, a copy of which are attached, for a total amount of $ 937.00. While payment of these invoices would not typically need Council approval, it is necessary now since ratification is required by virtue of Council Member Moore’s recent transition from an unpaid position to a paid position with WPNV’s parent non-for-profit corporation, the Black Business Alliance Peoria Chapter Inc. (“BBAPC”)."

So, Moore and her hubby own this radio station. The city advertises on this radio station. The city -- horror of horrors -- actually PAID for their advertising, which they have always doe in the past. I think after all the bills are paid by Moore and her hubby, they may have enough left over for a cup of coffee for the both of them.

But let's keep it simple. Moore got paid $1,000 of precious city dollars. *snort*

In a city where minority unemployment runs significantly higher than the "statistic", wouldn't you think the city could attract significant qualified minority applicants through more cost-effective avenues (leaving more money for our actual avenues)? And don't radio stations typically do "community service announcements" that don't cost $$$? Seems like the mayor is merely allowing a newbie to mosey up to the trough.

@meanjarhead I agree with a lot of the comments you have made. The South end has got to the crapper everybody knows it even though they try to deny it.

I disagree with you that everybody there are *******s I have lived here nearly all my life which I am betting is considerably longer then you have been alive.

There is VERY little pride in ownership in the South End and about as many houses that should be demolished as are livable. Property values are gone selling is no longer an option for some ofun us far to much invested.

The lowlife are all over and waging war agains each other constantly it's just a fact we live with on this end of town. Generally until about 6 at night it's quiet and peaceful then the rats and roaches start coming out and the good people go inside.

Like it or not that's the way it is in the South End.

Once all their bills are paid they have plenty left because the city and county are paying the bills for their radio project. The city and county are also paying for their black business incubator, even though Denise's black business alliance has zero tangible outcome in it years of existence.

Why didn't the city support your news ventures? It provides a lot more than any of Denise's projects.

I think people Leave and do not come back because of the "clicks" here. If you aren't a liberal or a member their group you aren't really wanted.

There seem to be 3 or 4 people here who do what and say what they want and it's ok but let somebody like meanjarhead comment with an opposing view and it's wrong and unacceptable.

@peoriapundit I was just looking at their web site. WPNV only airs a few hours a week on Saturday and Sunday?? You can hold an LPFM license and be dead air most of the time??
