If Sanders wins (which I fully believe he can), he's gonna get offed.

If the party feels that either the fight between Sanders and Clinton is too ugly or Sanders will get nominated, Biden will get in the race. There is also talk about Kerry but that is all wishful thinking. It wont happen.

Why do so many people think Biden is just a shoe-in? I highly doubt that to be true, especially since by the time that would happen (after at least a few debates), it could very well be too late, even if he is the Dem wet dream so many believe to be true.

@shifty :

H e already has his ear to the ground with democrats all over the country and could easily add to an existing political infrastructure that would be needed to mount a campaign on short notice. Also, if truth be known it is quite possible that some things are on "stand by" if they are needed. Many of those contacts also come from all his years in the senate.

He has also been very well vetted from his years in the senate and as VP so there would be no surprises to complicate the situation.

@billybob And if he could do all this, why don't the establishment D's throw him behind Hillary?

I think it would have happened if not for his sons illness and death at the time it would have been happening.

And in the meantime, his political capital has faded.

For the republicans the Iowa winner has quite often been a fast track into political oblivion of sorts. Past Iowa republican winners include Pat Buchanan, Huckabee, Santorum and a few others who faded quickly from the scene.

@billybob you left out Ronald Reagan. Oh wait.

@billybob Agree. He never should have skipped the debate but I'm not sure it would have mattered. Cruz spent a year and millions of dollars embedded in Iowa. Pretty sure he's a one trick pony.

Cruz will fade, Rubio will surge. Who will Marco's running mate be?

@jimthompson :
I dont agree with it but there are some people who think that Scott Walker helped his chances for VP by getting out of the race much earlier. Just repeating what has been making the rounds.

I would think Kasich as that will help bring in Ohio. Republicans have not won the White House without Ohio. It means more to them than Florida. It might also help with Rob Portmans senate race too. At the moment he is in a battle to keep it.

Rallying supporters last week during his final sprint through Iowa, Trump said, “Unless I win, I would consider this a big, fat, beautiful — and, by the way, a very expensive — waste of time.”
