I've seen first hand what a windshield does to the skull not pretty. Rather have the bruise from seatbelt any day. Steering wheel can cause some really nasty things as well only saw a couple of those. I personally don't feel right driving without one on but if you choose not to that's your issue to deal with. Not concerned about me wrecking its the other fools on the road I'm worried about crashing into me.

An adult wearing a seat belt should be a matter of personal choice, NOT dictated by an overbearing Government infringing on personal liberties.

Just a side note, seat belt tickets are not moving violations so your license won't be suspended if you get 3 of them.

I'd like to not have the financial burden of caring for vegetables that go thru a windshield and live. That's my only beef with people who don't wear seatbelts.

I'm in favor of wearing seatbelts. My only objection is to the government requiring people to wear them and fining them for not wearing them. We don't need a law for everything. What's next? Laws against running with scissors?

@cjsummers:

We have far to many laws as it is that affect our personal choices.

I agree that the gubmint shouldn't be fining us for not wearing seatbelts.

However, it does save lives and reduces our costs for insurance and hospital care, so I appreciate the benefits.

Public hangings of murders, child molesters, rapists and 3 time felons would reduce the costs on your too, are you for that?

Here is the question so when you were a child you could stand in the seat and ride all day long. Now would you feel its right to let your children stand in the seat. Come on its only a ticket Or would you show your a responsible parent. We are talking about children not adults. I think if your child gets the ticket you still pay for it unless you make the work for there money.

@Seal:
As I stated in my post, I don't agree with seat belt fines...

I don't agree with the death penalty either... and the death penalty is not necessarily cheaper than life in prison.

The Death Penalty if not drug out for years is FAR cheaper then housing a low life for years.

Get convicted you get 90 days to prove you aren't guilty, we will express lane any DNA you want to use as proof.

Day 91 if you haven't proven you aren't guilty, you hang.

Day 92 you aren't leeching off the system any more.

I hope everyone choosing not to wear a seatbelt has a DNR and a VERY specific Living Will.

@Rixblix:

Everybody should have a living will whether they wear seat belts or not. As for a DNR they aren't as easy to get as printing out a form off of the internet in IL. They require a Dr. to sign off on them, getting a Dr to sign one is worse then pulling a tooth, in my experience anyway.

There have been plenty of documentation from the states with the death penalty on how expensive it is. Many of them have considered eliminating the death penalty as a budget saving proposal.

@joepyeweed:

My terms there is VERY little cost. The States talking about the cost are the ones that draw it out for years.

My idea, new rope and a tree are all the requirements.
