When do you let your kid ride in the front seat?
I don't unless we are out of seats, as in our quad cab, then airbag is off and kid rides in front, but this has only happened once I think.

I know several parents of 10 year olds (shorter and/or weigh less than ours) who are letting them ride up front, belted. I think it's not a good decision based on height because of where the shoulder belt crosses the neck, and the weight if airbag is not turned off..
I've not known anyone to be pulled over for this?

Thoughts?

As long as the seat belt fits right no problem. We take the extra step of putting seat all the way back.

God grief, I rode up front, no seatbelt in my mom'sd Mustang at 4. And lived. People are scared to death of everything. My oldest daughter has been in the front seat since she was 8 in my truck

Thinking back to the tiny cars mom drove and how lanky and tall I was at an early age... exactly how **** I would be if I was required to sit in the back seat until age 14.

My son would have been in an infant seat in kindergarten, and a toddler seat until middle school!

Hey a good friend of mines son was dating a girl who was 16 at the time and was at the required height for a toddler seat in his truck. There was always a running joke about him getting a ticket for her not being secured in a seat.

8 yrs old and over 60lbs does not need a car seat any longer. I had to check with the police before I let my daughter ride up front.

Any kid whose mother made him ride in a damn car seat in 6th grade is a prime candidate to hear dogs telling him to kill everyone when he's 30

If you went by size/weight, yes. He was 25 pounds in 1st grade. And about 60 pounds in 6th grade. Wicked small. As a full grown man (he's almost 20yo), he's only just over 5' tall.
