What kind of bags are you making and how do you decide who gets them?

I would do that but I have the same questions as SAHM.

I am going to Walmart and filling the blue bags they have with food that wont go bad, crackers, granola bars, water, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, wetnaps, blanket, ect. Figure out who gets them- just going to start walking downtown. THey find you. Experience tells me this. I have ran into many people simply asking for food. What they do with the bags is up to them, I am just helping. If they abuse it, that is between them and God. I will not turn anyone away that is hungry, if I have to buy more- so be it. I have bought many people food downtown, but think it would be great to bring many people together and flood the street helping.

It's been my experience that many times the folks who don't need things just want free stuff, and the homeless are too proud to approach you. You can find homeless if you just take a walk around a block.edit:

If you have worries about if people are going to abuse or misuse the bags- I urge you not to participate. We will hand anyone that asks for change or food a bag. No questions- no worries. Hand them a bag and say God Bless. Walk away and go to the next. If they want to talk- sit and talk with them. I will finance the whole project so don't worry about the money. I do not believe in giving money. I give money to Southside.

hey, it's up to you. I can't participate, but I think you won't reach your real target by having people approach you.

Where, specifically, will you be doing this? Date, time, location?

I am going to do what Christ has told me to. I preach the word but most of all spread his love. No action behind your faith will lead your faith worthless. God willing, if I only help one and waste 19 bags- that has done some good. I do not want credit, just want to help the people that have not been blessed with physical good like I have. @stayathomemommy: Don't know exactly- October- some Sat. My two boys and wife will be helping me. I will try to get some in our congregation to help also. The more the better!!!

My Saturday mornings are booked, but if I can contribute to your bags with food or toiletries, I'd be willing to buy it and bring it to you. Or, if you go on an afternoon, I may be able to join you.

Just a suggestion:
Maybe put an inspirational quote in there - from bible or otherwise. Or a pocket bible.

I would be willing to do this but I can not do it on the first or second Saturday, those weekends are always booked a year in advance. Plus I will not be pushing your religion on people, if you are going to do this do it because you are trying to help; not to push your beliefs on others.Charity and giving is not about conditions, do it because you want to to help.
