There must be a lot of things wrong there. About two years ago (and I don't know why) I was with friends in St. Louis and we went to a Hooters. The place was jammed on a Friday night. Go past the one in Springfield and it looks busy, too.

But then again this happens in Peoria a lot. As you are all aware, I begrudgingly go to chain restaurants, but I have found that places like Red Lobster and Lonestar are better in Bloomington than Peoria. Hmmmmmmm......Why...........

Eat local. Go to Schooners or Donnelly's.

I'd like to see a proposal on how/ where the Spirit would be located in EP. As Mahkno mentions, the river on that side is a mess, which I believe had much to do with Bass Pro not building a dock. They could likely sell a ton more boats and get river traffic to the restaurant, but they haven't for some reason, likely the work required to maintain it after the yearly flooding and silting.

@shifty

Here is my thoughts. Isn't the land/building that Bass Pro sits on a lease from the city of EP? If so, why would BP invest a considerable sum to put in docks in that area where there is a huge delta around the entrance of Farm Creek into the Illinois River? If one looks at the riverfront down in that area, about the only option would be for the city to place it at Riverfront and increase parking in the green space next to Bass Pro's parking lot. But me oh my, people would have to WALK!!

How about East Peoria tear down Walmart, and build a dock right behind it where the old Cilco pilings are? And use the WM property for parking and a park?

Not a bad idea. Bet that would ruffle some feathers.

The concept plans for the East Peoria dock that I had seen had it located just north of the McCluggage Bridge. (And yes anything on the East side of the river would require periodic dredging )
