My favorite lunch spot in Peoria is Haldi (Indian).
At lunch time, they offer vegetarian and non-veg (usually chicken) combos. Each consists of an appetizer, two curries, biryani (spiced rice with vegetables or chicken), raita (a yogurt-based condiment), and dessert. I usually choose the vegetarian option. The offerings change daily, but my favorite is saag mushroom (mushrooms in a spiced creamed spinach/greens sauce). It's $7.99 for the vegetarian combo, and a dollar more for the chicken combo.
Outside the city of Peoria, my favorite is El Molcajete (formerly Nana's Taco Shack) in Chillicothe. The molcajete Oaxaqueno is amazing! It's a spicy stew-like dish with beef, chicken, shrimp, cactus pads, baby onions and avocado. Other favorites are the burrito Valiente (spiced chicken and veggies filling, topped with cheese sauce and pico de gallo) and the enchiladas carnitas (cheese enchiladas topped with green sauce and pork carnitas). Prices are very reasonable, and service is fast and friendly.

I just had lunch at the new Childers. Yep, it was loud made even more noticeable by a screaming child. But that wasn't the bad part. There was RANCH DRESSING powder on my fries!!!! (I'm going to guess this may be in part my fault...the wait person asked me if I wanted a side and I replied fries....maybe it says ranch dressing dusted fries on something to that extent on the menu). The burger was pretty good and I ate the fries.
