Spirit of East Peoria?

So, I wonder what the Vegas odds are that Peoria will find a way to screw this up and let one of the few riverfront attractions (minus eateries and bars) go away?

if there is any conceivable way, and some inconceivable ones as well, to screw the pooch on this, Peoria will do it. The city lives for that.

But not before they give Alex piles of cash for whatever reason.

I'm still unclear as to WHY they need to tear this structure (and its parking) down. Peoria sure does have a knack for shooting themselves in the foot.
I would think Bass Pro would love to share their parking lot if the Spirit moved across the river.

I bet they would! Go for a river cruise, and then stop into Bass Pro to pick up a few items, since "I'm here anyway."

That's what I was thinking. Bass Pro also has a good restaurant with fun decor.

If Setting is working on it, it's destined to fail.
"We reached out to Assistant City Manager Chris Setti who told 25 News that they're still waiting to collect data on where customers park and the city is working to keep Grieves on the riverfront."

"Where customers park"? The people who have money to spend are senior citizens. They want parking as close to the riverfront and its attractions as possible. If they have to park 2-3 blocks away, they will go elsewhere to spend their money. Nothing against the shops and restaurants down there, but the Spirit is the only UNIQUE reason to visit Peoria's riverfront.

And East Peoria had a long term vision of adding a dock to the Bass Pro Property, a riverboat would give them the impetus to fund that.

I don't understand why we don't save a lot of time and heartache by just getting a bunch of Cat Dozers and pushing every single business and retail store over to the other side of the river and just get it overwith.

I swear, this town could screw up a one-person parade.

After you have done that once or twice it is like you have been there and done that too and have no reason to do it again. I have heard that Hooters might not be doing so well too.

I have not been there but know people ho have been there a few times over the last few months. Each time there is clearly a smaller crowd there vs. past times and always seems they are out of a few items on the menu. They also drive past there just about every day. They told me the parking lot always seems to have much fewer cars parked there.

I went to the one in Bloomington a few months ago just because I'd never been to one. The place only had 5 or 6 people in it and I got the impression the same ones were there every day. The food was meh.

And their 20 year lease is up next year. Think we may have another empty building.
