A man is going viral for questioning where Black Lives Matter activists are during the flooding in Louisiana.

Jerry L. Washington, a Baton Rouge native, posted a video to Facebook, asking why activists haven't done anything to help the majority African-American city.

"Where are the Black Lives Matter and the Black Panthers?" Washington says in the video. "Because I ain’t seen one Black Panther boat or one Black Lives Matter boat. All I see is our own people from our own city saving us."

When we there is a pattern of people being shot by public servants. .. then the public starts second guessing. Seems online logical.

I can't believe anyone defends it.

@joepyeweed :

There are over 1 million cops in this country, and multiple officer involved shootings every day. You hear about a small percentage of those shootings, and a miniscule percentage of the police contacts that occur every day. Nobody here is defending bad shootings. What I am defending is the police. Your years of police experience gained by sitting on your **** with a bag of chips watching the tellie don't qualify you to judge the decisions made by an officer in a split second. Specifically referring to the kid with the toy gun case.

The pattern examined in that link is quite different than the pattern of media coverage

@cjsummers

the media can plant whatever idea they want in a person's mind if the person is weak minded enough to allow it.

Protect and Serve.

so how many police killings are there in a year?

How many of those were the officers in real danger?

Is there a racial disparity in the killing data?

The premise that only an experienced police officer can question police decisions is very dangerous.

But as the scenario of innocent people getting shot seems to be repeating, over and over again, the perception is that number of cops making very poor split second decisions is on the rise.

@joepyeweed :

And why are cops put into this situation more frequently? A lot more "I can do what I want because it is my right" attitude. And that "Me first" attitude sees NO color. Much more now than just 10 years ago.

People have changed. A lot of them are uncaring.

Officers today can walk up on various types of situations.

Soon we wont be able to stop them.

Did you see the story about the deaf mute who was shot by police?
@joepyeweed I'll settle for a jury of his peers, rather than the internets.

@cjsummers :

Yeah, I would say that about every suspect ever shot by a cop. According to the constitution, they have a right to a trial by jury for their crimes. We could save a lot of money, if we got rid of the court system and just shoot them instead,.

Why choose an occupation that needs a gun? What is the primary attraction, incentive? Civic duty is a wrong answer imo

@EyeintheSky :

I did that. I saw lots of stupidity... but stupid isn't necessarily an executable offense.

No one has a problem with cops protecting themselves in life threatening situations.

What we have a problem with, is the perception that cops are killing suspects when they are not in danger. sometimes the perception is worse than reality, but if you are public agent, perception is important.
