@meanjarhead That's a good name for a food truck: Rolling Sushi.

@ChefKevin I am only worth a s*** cooking catfish and shrimp. So messing around with raw fish isn't really an option. I was thinking serving chili everyday and calling it Rolling Thunder.

@JeepPilot So what about sushi from a truck stop in Iowa?

@meanjarhead :

That's gotta be fairly low on my list. Sweet corn from an Iowa food truck though... I'd be all over that!

Bring a well-sushi'd friend and go see Hadi at Sushi KO in the Metro Center. Tell him it's your first time and he will make sure you know what you like!

@JeepPilot :

Agreed - he's really sociable and friendly, and the sushi at Sushi KO is pretty good. I've heard good things about Sushigawa also, but it's more out of the way for me so I haven't been there.

I'm not a fan of any Chinese buffets around here any more. There is one in Bloomington I like but I can't remember the name. For the best sit down Chinese, it is definitely Ginger in Pekin.

Update: I haven't seen or talked to the owner, but on my way to Bass Pro and Lowe's today, I drove past. A whole lot of old booths and a large dumpster are sitting in the parking lot closest to the river. Maybe it is a remodel.....

Remodel similar to Hokaido.

@jimthompson :

That would be nice, although I'd miss the all you can eat salad bar, soup and sushi (I didn't partake that much in the hot bars). He did a really nice job on the bar area in River 1000; maybe that design will span to the rest of the place.

Noticed that quite a few, if not all of the "hot bar" buffet tables are sitting in the parking lot. I miss my 7-10 day sushi fix. Yeah, I can go other places, but this on the way home (and no HRA tax).

Noticed sign on building today "Opening Soon - Shogun".

Didn't we have a Sho-gun in Peoria? Thought it was in the castle (which is no more) on Brandywine Drive.
