I really, really wanted Hillary Clinton to be the first female president. I really did. I've come to the realization, though, that if she were elected there would be 4 years of conspiracy theories/Whitewater/Benghazi BS from her detractors. I fear people would be voting simply to vote AGAINST her.

She's also not really that great a liberal/progressive anymore. I have mad respect for her and think the witchhunts will follow her forever.

BTW, I also respect her for NOT cutting and running on her marriage.

Given all that...I'm voting Bernie. The time is right for a strong, (truly) progressive candidate.

I like Biden but he has made way too many gaffes to be taken seriously.

Over the last few weeks I've kind of poo-poohed these allegations against Hillary, but it's legs are growing longer every day. To me, it's a coin-toss right now as to whether or not she'll be the nominee. If Biden gets in the race, I think others might be inspired to come out of the wood work as well.

My two cents, If Hillary does become the nominee, I think she'll be defeated soundly in the general election.

I was with you until the last para. I think there are plenty of Democrats who will never vote for a Republican. I don't think there will be any "defeating soundly" by a Republican. Defeating, perhaps, but soundly... I doubt.

I think you are right about others possibly coming out of the woodworks if Biden tosses a hat in.

@AverageJoe:
I don't know. I think if the Republican nominee is African-American (Carson) or Hispanic (Rubio), they may get some of the voters who traditionally vote for Democrats.

Pretty low to suggest that blacks and Latinos would vote for a Republican just because of their heritage. None of the myriad of candidates have shown anything but contempt for immigrants. And Carson isn't "black" by any stretch of the imagination.

" Pretty low to suggest that blacks and Latinos would vote for a Republican just because of their heritage."

93% of African Americans voted for Obama in 2012. You're criticizing the wrong person Shifty.

"And Carson isn't "black" by any stretch of the imagination."

He's a wealthy world-renowned Surgeon. Explain what you mean by he's not black enough please.

You lack credibility when you can't discern between legal and illegal immigrants.

And Carson isn't "black" by any stretch of the imagination.

Speaking of "pretty low"...

I'm not convinced that the latino vote or the black vote is going to swing that much due to Carson or Rubio in the general election.

I could be wrong. time will tell.

Oh, let's get all politically correct then. Carson doesn't have the charisma or perceived street cred that Obama had/has, it's ok to recognize demographics.

@bn13814 Republican immigration semantics generally only appeal to the base. Which candidate is putting out anything but talking points about immigration? How many of them are proposing an easier/better legal path to immigration? Conversely, how many of them are standing up behind Trump's extremely offensive comments?

Carson was a neurosurgeon at John Hopkins Hospital from 1977 to 2013. Barack Obama was a "community organizer." Perception is irrelevant when you have reality.

"...proposing an easier/better legal path to immigration?"

This is irrelevant until we take seriously our national security and sovereignty. We can't accept everyone, nor should we. Turn off the magnets to illegal immigration. Kind of a difficult task when the Democrats are proposing (and implementing) the exact opposite.

@bn13814 And these are the exact reasons blacks and Latinos aren't going to turn out for a Republican just because of his race. We can argue whether what you say is true or not, but it certainly isn't attractive to minority voters.
No one cares that Carson was a neurosurgeon, and the "community organizer" is irrelevant now that Obama's had his term and re-election, no less. I fail to see the relevance of neurosurgery to a person's ability to be president. You guys love to elect anti-science morons, since when did that change?

I think 90% of the U.S. population would turn their opinions on a dime if a true leader came along with a compelling message.
