It isn't only the Hollywood elite that isn't there...did you see the small crowd and empty bleachers on the parade route?

Also the aerial views of the Mall show lots of open space. Compare that to many past inaugurations.

those of you scared to death over a Trump Administration, I don't envy you right now.

@AV8R :

I am not scared to death. I am white.

I do worry about the nuclear weapon usage. I don't think he would really use them. But I also don't think he comprehends why we should not use them.

have y'all seen the video of Bill Clinton allegedly checking out one of the Trump women at the inauguration? It's priceless...the look on Hillary's face when she busts him! Classic Slick Willie moment.

MUCH has been written and said about the empty seats in the 1600 block in Penn. Ave. Going back for decades the seats in that block were sold to the high end party donors. There were a lots of empty seats in that block vs. many past inaugural parades.

I would expect a much, much bigger turnout for the first African American president than any of the others. I don't see what the comparison proves in the end though. We know Obama was not a good president, we don't yet know how Trump will do.

@AV8R

There was a much, much , much better turnout out for Carter, Reagan, George Bush, Clinton, George W Bush and Obama. I was there for all of them. I have been told and seen pictures that even Nixon in both of his inaugurations had larger crowds.

At all of the above, the parade seats were sold out and in the end the added a few more bleachers to handle ticket requests.
