Okay, bear with me here. Please re-read this article about the Madison Theater. By any chance does the Pere Marquette have some sort of historical status??

Why do I have a feeling the Pere Marquette is going to catch fire next month??? Oh forget it!!

Still getting my thoughts linked together.

Funny how that council meeting where Ardis mentions the email from Ordaz isn't archived.

It is my understanding that when Marriott first came on the scene that they told some people in city hall about places where they had hotels and had seen old theaters restored to a thriving future. Marriott also gave them names of the developers. As far as can be determined nothing was ever done with the information.

@ricardo
Where'd they hide Matt Buedel?

Isn't Steve Tarter on the city hall beat? Is he just somewhere walking into a corner over and over again? Does Steve have a brain? Or is he just a robot programmed by Gatehouse to reprint city press releases? Error error error.

Good thing Luciano is on it.

Just remembered something about the historical status of the hotel. The elevators there are small but the original interiors and original doors. There was talk of putting larger elevators during the renovations. But the cost,time,and approval process precluded it.

@billybob : I'm pretty sure it has some type of historical status. I went to the Facebook page that Bill Ordaz is the head of, and you can find it there.

Its a slot machine and people just keep feeding it,,,,,, waiting for that payout that's eating up every dollar spent on it. First bring something down town people need or want to be part of then you'll see money come to this city.

@tapeworm Why should I contribute to the cause. Seems they have it under control as long as they have the warehouse district under control.

Grocery store would really be nice.

@tntrecycling

It wasn't a grocery store as such. it was an oversized 7-11 that was on the corner of Main and Madison that lasted for awhile before it faded from the scene.

There is someone who works downtown that really thinks a diner is what's needed and from time to time looks around at available space.
