I remember that incident and it was actually a dispatcher at the 911 center that was watching them live on the IDOT cameras. The 911 center not only has access to the live cameras, but also has access to control the ones that move (PTZ).
A side note, when the 911 center or anyone that has access to view them is doing so, that camera will stop updating the pics on the public viewer website...."

That's interesting information! So I was talking to someone about theft, and he was telling me about how some park district off road vehicles were stolen and driven north to Peoria Heights. He said the police followed them through the different intersections with the traffic cameras as they moved along. They must save data for a certain amount of time if that's true...."
