Did gov in Aaron Schock case commit a crime?

To me it this article says the gov has a weak case and right now the momentum is in Schocks favor. Will be interesting to see how many charges make it to trial.

Weak case? Did you see his downton Abbey office? I did. I haven't checked his odometer,but I'm sure it's just as wack.

This doesn't mean he is "guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt." I can't say what this informant done was right.

The gov. has a weak record in high-profile cases. Should be interesting come trial time.

@Byron

that's an understatement. You're going to have an aggressive AUSA on the prosecution, and a retired aggressive AUSA on the defense team. before a federal judge who is a former AUSA, trying to explain money, corruption and Washington politics to a bunch of farmers on the jury. Avoiding a hung jury or jury nullification all comes down to one thing: does that lone holdout farmer hate corrupt politicians or corrupt government attorneys more?

So, he should be condemned for his "flamboyant" style of decorating? 🙄
I think it's ridiculous that this keeps getting brought up. Schock's alleged crimes have nothing to do with his taste in office decor. If he misused campaign funds and taxpayer dollars, he should be punished. But making fun of his style cheapens your argument against him.

I get it. Not guilty until proven innocent.

His office, his odometer.

You tell me what his defense is. Not "I'm not his lawyer". What is his defense?

Guilty.

I just want to know WHO Schock honked off to get this whole thing started in the first place. I don’t believe for a second that I'm getting the whole story.

@Biscuitsngravy

The fact that I don't know his defense does not mean he does not have one that he is entitled to present to a jury. I agree he probably is guilty of at least some of the allegations, but it has to play out. Just my opinion.

Well heard a rumor that some of his larger local donors did not like that Schock was aligning himself with the government shut downs. Shutting the government down is bad for the economy, creates instability in the markets, etc. etc.

@joepyeweed

I don't blame them. I thought he did a lot of good locally. It felt to me like once he left Springfield, things just didn't seem right. Too bad.

This might be off topic, and I don't care if anyone slams me on this, but I always felt the Obama that showed up in D.C. wasn't the same Obama that I saw in Illinois. Not that he was corrupt. I just felt that once he got there, it seemed to me that too many people were trying to make him into something too many other people wanted him to be. Just my opinion. But I digress.

Back to Schock....the kid blew it.

Exactly he blew it. Regardless if he is guilty or not. He mishandled his office décor situation from the start.

1. He should not have done it.

2. Once it became public he tried hiding it, thus making it look like he had something to hide. From there a Pandora's box was opened.

Schock had many warnings before this to become "less hip" and he failed to change.

@Byron
In particular his staff got very defensive, confrontational and arrogant when anyone commented on it including a reporter from the Washington Post. If they have just smiled and said "thank you" there is a good chance that it would have all passed over.
