In the fall at my house, the nuts sound like artillery hitting the roof when the wind blows.

These are from last time I changed belt the little square is where battery sits and the black cover has to come off to get to top of pulley as well. Think 20 some screws had to be removed including 1 that mounts engine to deck of mower. Just to change a part that WILL fail the rest of mower is great now that it has gotten used again after sitting for 2+ years. Carb was a mess still had old gas in it and it gelled and stuck the float and needle. Can of gumout and brass brush fixed that.

@tntrecycling 2 belts in one season is not maintenance it ripping me off on poor design. In the picture you can see the space where the junk gets trapped do to the cover not going around whole area they saved 30 cents worth of plastic and left prime spot for failure. When a twig can get lodged in and snap the belt.

@joepyeweed I was actually considering some fine mesh hardware clothe so it could still get air flow on pulley but keep crap out of pulley. May have to get a hold of my parts guy and see what he has in stock for such a modification.

Why don't you call toro with the model and serial number and tell them your problems with the mower. There might be a recall or service bulletin out. I had a problem with my clipping bag, only to find they had a problem. New bag sent out next day
