I have not heard anything regarding security. I myself work in a smaller populated building and we haven't seen heavy security presence. I was in Mossville Friday and didn't see any extra there either. I understand that the layoff procedures (in terms of security) are there to protect the people in the building... Especially after the ex-employee that went a little berserk a few months back. It's humiliating and awful... But I do understand why. Since I'm an agency employee, our company will usually come and get us and walk us out instead of security. Or they simply call us before the work day and tell us before we even get to the office. When I was laid off in 2012, we were even given a 2 week heads up so we knew when our last day was. There are different rules in place for agency/contract people when it comes to these slashes. @billybob

Any word on today's round of layoffs?

@leslie110 They've started. I actually had a scheduled vacation day for today before I knew all of this was going to happen. So I'm not in my building to see if anything is going on. I am unsure if anything is happening in my group. But a friend of mine texted me saying that HR reps from all over the company arrived at the Tech Center this morning. They are calling people at their desks and asking them to come to a conference room. So far, two from her group are gone. She's just waiting on a call. I am as well...

There hasn't been any activity at Morton today.

Lots more heads rolling at the Tech Center today. Roughly 50% of what was left of my group, including several supervisors and managers.Managers are just walking around tapping people on the shoulder and asking them to come with them, where they get told the news. Not sure there is a good way to do layoffs, but this is pretty nerve-wracking for people, watching like hawks to see where they are going next.I am not in the office, but I don't recall there being additional security the Friday before last. They could have been very discrete though, I cannot imagine they didn't have some additional guards.

@QuispNQuake Yes- as an agencied employee. I've been laid off 3 times from CAT.

@leslie110 I think Morton is safe. They are completely separate from the 2 merging divisions. That's where the majority of the cuts are being made.

@shifty Not just Tech Center. PPG is being hit. A supervisor that I worked close with in East Peoria was released an hour ago. It seems to be making it's way down the salary grade... I've only heard of supervisors and tech leads at this point. Perhaps the lower salaries like myself will be hit tomorrow. I took a vacation day today... had it planned before I knew this was going to happen. So I have no clue what the mood is in my building.

PPG and the Tech Center are the same business unit, so that does make sense.

From what I have heard PPG is like "carnage"'and meeting rooms reserved through Wednesday.

@leslie110 That is absolutely correct. Same at Tech Center. They have meeting rooms completely booked until Wednesday. I'm afraid this doesn't end with today.
