And Trump is not changing the system...he joined the system. If he really wanted to shake things up he would have run as a third party.

More detailed parts of the TV ratings of the speech will come out in a few days. It will show how many stayed tuned to the entire speech and how many turned it off before it was over. Preliminary figures on this matter are not good for Trump.

David Duke could be another major headache for the republicans if Trump says too much more about him. Some republicans closely involved in electing congressional republicans have denounced Duke. The really frightening thing about that situation is that so many republicans are running. So with the vote split so many ways crazy things can and do happen.

What a difference eight years makes. People can stream Trump's speech on alternative media (such as the GOP's own convention website) or later on Youtube, and C-Span's website. So comparing Trump's ratings to that of McCain's eight years ago only offers a distorted picture. I expect Hillary's upcoming acceptance speech to suffer lower ratings from cable TV viewers for the same reasons, as many will stream via the internet, or watch it later on Youtube, etc.

Yes, the way a person looks is a key component of how they will perform as a government official. ...ie Chris Christie's weight, to Hillary Clinton's cankles or clothing, Donald's hair, Obama's ears, etc. etc. etc. Very important campaign issues that must be discussed. If guy who looks like a ninja turtle is as awesome as a an actual ninja turtle, then I may have to change my vote and vote for the ninja turtle.

I remember being in Art class in school in the winter of the '75-'76 school year. The teacher was having us make Christmas ornaments out of dough. The smile on my snowman ornament ended up looking like the big, goofy grin Jimmy Carter had, once I had cut and shaped it. I busted out laughing, held it up for the whole class to see, and said, "LOOK! IT'S JIMMY CARTER!" The class cheered and fell over laughing. Some things never change.
