@joepyeweed :A video was a convenient excuse. Since riots over "flushing the koran" report and protests over cartoons had occurred just prior, rationalizing a terrorist attack on a U. S. consulate in a dangerous part of Libya as a protest gotten out of hand because of a video nobody had seen was a convenient excuse, easily believed by the low information crowd.

@bn13814 :The video was convenient for the US to use, and it was convenient for the attackers to use as well. One of the attackers admitted that the video was used as a catalyst to help them implement their plan. IMO, the video story is an over-simplification of one component of a much more complex situation.

@joepyeweed :Prior secretary of states didn't excuse these deaths on something else and then lied about it. The last U. S. ambassador to die in the line of duty was Adolph Dubs, who was kidnapped then murdered in Afghanistan in 1979. The exact group responsible was never confirmed. Yet no one in the Carter Administration excused it as something other than kidnapping and murder.

@joepyeweed :"The Innocence of Muslims" wasn't the only video being considered on which to blame the attack ("God vs. Allah" was one). It doesn't matter anyway, because being offended is no excuse for murder.

See! Stick to the things that are true complaints! "What difference does it make" is a partial quote and not remotely in context. Using that snippet is sloppy and deceptive. Use the whole situation and your point won't be called sloppy and deceptive.

The "snippet" I am referring to is when ppl just use "what difference does it make". And you know just those words, by themselves, is deceptive. It doesn't stop people from pretending that is the quote. Deceptive.
