It's member owned, I get a distribution check once a year. A++ rated insurance, and they've never batted an eye when I file a claim. Had a YUUUGE hailstorm in El Paso, TX one year, thousands of houses and vehicles damaged. The next morning, USAA had dozens of adjusters on site going around the city. Other insurance companies, not so quick. Been with them since 1982, and won't consider switching.

The top 5 for ''customer service'' and quality repairs IMO
1: State Farm
2: Progressive
3: AAA
4: Country Financial
5: Pekin Insurance
ask for the next 5

The worst 5 for ''customer service'' and consumer headache IMO
1: American Family
2: Allstate
3: ESurance
4: The General
5: Geico ( although, they are improving a lot! )
ask for the next 5

A lot of these small ''internet'' companies are owned by the larger ones and they get by with cutting corners.
I, personally, have had 1 claim in 25 years ( put a new roof on the house a few years ago and it raind like a dog on day 2) it went very well.

Like @joepyeweed said...pick the shop/contractor you trust best...let THEM deal with your insurance company. That's why you hired them. Most people have NO idea what goes on behind the scene...there have been MAJOR changes in the insurance industry.

CHECK YOUR POLICY....don't assume.

@tntrecycling

That is good for you. Most people don't collect a ''check'' it just through the ''process'' and people get their house/car back.

The insurance companies ARE running the show..times...they are a changin'

State Farm. Our agent has changed, but we've received excellent service for 17 years.
I've rolled a car.. They were out next day and totaled it out and cut us a check same day. Had hail damage..out immediately to check it, and cut a check to cover hail damaged portion. They seem very prompt.

Our coverage does include a dollar amount/day for a rental and while not fabulous, it has helped a couple times when our van has needed repairs with an 'indefinite time frame' estimate.

I think a lot depends on the agent. I've had State Farm for several years, same agent, and he has been great through a couple of teen accidents plus several close encounters with wildlife. And, my rate hadn't changed for 6 years until I got a new car this year.

I am 68 and had State Farm for 42 yrs. and never filed a claim. Not one accident. Last year my rates more than doubled because of my age I was considered high risk. Records showed that when people that age do have an accident it is usually very bad. Quit while you're ahead, I guess. Found a company with more coverage and less rates so I guess all things work themselves out in the end.
