@bgbird68

I totally agree concerts could b held there. It would be coming full circle as back in the day they had some concerts there. I have cousins who lived down on Tripp and once upon a time we walked from their house to many events at the stadium and back to their house afterwards.

The question I have is has the stadium ever been updated? Back in the 60s when I graduated from high school the stadium was starting to show some wear. It needed some repair work. Hopefully something was done and it hasn't been allowed to totally decline through the years.

@billybob Ugh...yeah it has, but when, I don't remember. It was an outside group, not D150.

Yes, it would be a great place for concerts. So would GOP Amphitheater. Unfortunately, promoters and bands are at the mercy of the weather. I remember Donny Iris was suppose to open for Joan Jett at GOPA, but got rained out. However, it wouldn't be much different than the State Fair's set up.

I think the track got resurfaced not too long ago. It had gotten so bad, no one wanted to hold meets there anymore. Once they changed venues, they are gone. Too little too late.

The track itself is not current. It is laid out with English measurements. All current competitive track fields are laid out in metric; 400 meter laps.

Those 80 acres would make an excellent location for a new high school....

Peoria Public Schools should sell the space to the Peoria Park District for $1.

@Mahkno :

Many, many others have said that too. However, what school would a new school there replace? Also even though the lsnf is owned by D150 that land is actually is totally surrounded by the Heights so would that present another issue?

Well... Peoria Notre Dame has been talking about a new school. The stadium location would be a LOT better than the crappy field they currently hold surrounded by graveyards and dealerships at Allen Road and Willow Knolls.

There had been plans made in the past for Peoria Academy to expand to PreK thru 12, but that is dormant at the moment.

At some point... with demographics shifting northward, either Manual or Central will have to close. District 150 will probably still need three high schools but the third one would need to be further north.

They have that new complex out in the Dunlap area. That's their millions of dollars spent. Instead of using places we have already.
