My view is a bit different than that. The GOP constituents and the GOP leadership has not been in sync. Not only that, but you have lots of "warring" splinters. Although there are a variety of democrats, you don't see nearly as much as in the republican party constituents. Conservatives v. Tea Party v. Moderate Repubs... Shifty said:

Thing is, TRUMP has done all those things, and it's a reason (IMO) *NOT* to vote for him. If he just exposed all those other high profile conservatives, then perhaps.
As far as the party as a whole, I think there are a lot of bigots, and a lot of non-bigots.
I'm not sure the GOP can survive. I think the ideology within the party is very divided. The two party system isn't working so well for those on the Right.
