I read the article. So unions shouldn't be able to contribute to campaigns but a few billionaires should have no limits? SMH.

I don't think they should allow superpacs at all 2000 per person and keep very accurate records to prove it. Even as far as making sure the person giving the money actually earned the money and was not given it by another.

Sigh..... unions have almost nothing to do with decisions to move jobs overseas. The connections that are made along these lines are deliberately made to confuse, distract and misinform. The real reason, is that the GOP wants to break up the political influence that unions exercise by well... being unions. Unions are the political counterweight to ulta wealthy conservatives when it comes to political spending. Remove unions and there are not nearly enough blue blood wealthy democrats to counter those on the right. Breaking up unions is all about political influence.

The biggest driver to moving jobs overseas, imo, has to do with currency rates; the ratio of the dollar to everyone else's money. The dropping of trade barriers, eg 'globablization', is another key factor. It is often just plane cheaper to manufacture something abroad than it is in the U.S. No amount of plunging U.S. workers into welfare wages is going to rebalance that.

Many businesses who have shipped work overseas are starting to bring it back. They are finding cost savings of overseas work have been exagerrated, particularly when you factor in costs associated with reliability and consistency. Delivery dates are rarely met.

@Mahkno Lets look at Maytag, it was 50 bucks a unit cheaper to build it in newton Iowa over Galesburg Illinois. at 5000 units a day that adds up. Guess which plant was in a RTW state?

@joepyeweed :

Not so sure about that... more like those overseas markets are growing, labor is in shorter supply and less willing to work for meager wages. There is talk of labor shortages in China.

What that will mean is that some businesses will start to look for other countries to set up shop in. I have seen some interesting grow forecasts for East Africa.

When companies start looking at total costs and not just hourly labor costs they are realizing that overseas doesn't always mean cheaper.
