@HipKat2000 : He also lives a bit off the grid. Goes off hunting, fishing, etc. for weeks at a time. Hunts/grows a lot of his own food.

But I look back at my grandparents' lifestyle. Lived on a farm. Raised Angus beef and dairy cows, chickens, and occasionally sheep. Traded beef with a neighbor for pork. Rabbits weren't safe from grandpa's .22 Winchester. Grew their own fruit and veggies. Grandma would grind her own wheat for flour and would occasionally make her own butter. Grandpa made wine. Had their own water well and natural gas. Yeah, they had supplied electricity. Talking about true farm to table.

@AntiRanchDrssng : My son just moved into the boonies and is a hunter (novice). He's having a lot of fun at his new house. His fiancé is into gardening. Although they aren't "living off the land", they reap the benefits of their hobbies. He just moved in this past Spring. He gets visited by a fox (or foxes??), deer, turkey, a bear, and a mountain lion. all caught on his Ring doorbell.

@AverageSue : There is a level of satisfaction doing those things. However, what my mom is planning to do with 8 tomato plants (especially since dad does not like tomatoes) is beyond me LOL.
