At this point in time, given the challenges that CAT faces, why would the city ever pay attention to what CAT wants considering what hangs in the balance for the future and, maybe , survival of CAT. It seems to me that CAT should be paying more attention to getting their business in order rather than trying to tell the city what to do.

The city should be moving mountains to try and get some jobs in Peoria to replace the ones that have been and will be lost at CAT.

I think the only reason the city does pay attention is that Mayor Ardis, Beth Akeson and others have absolutely no clue or insight about any possible solutions without consulting with CAT. They seem to be totally incapable of thinking for themselves.

I bet that the "investors" will be receiving some kind of tax credits or other bounty for returning the cement pad back to green space. This is definitely a sweet heart deal for the investors. They are doing this for economic gain - not benevolence. PJStar editors are wrong again.

Just ignore it like they did the sewer project then it will fall down on its own.

Need to get rid of pandering to CAT and focus on medical community we would at least get folks coming to visit and then start getting some cash flow. Peoria has the potential to be HUGE medical area they are letting it go to pander to Cat who will just up and leave peoria one day when they can't get what they want or go belly up.

So we are about to pay a million dollars to something we can get for free?? Or we still need to pay the original redeveloper something to acquire the rights, leaving the DDC out of it?

@EyeintheSky

Charleston, WV is a place that has made major progress to coming back to life with all the well paying jobs in the medical field. So much so that Charleston, WV is a major regional medical center.

The demand for medical jobs will always be there.

@billybob I have several Special needs children/adults so can speak from 1st hand how BAD peoria has gotten trying to get care for them. Hardest to get is mental health ever since state/city gave up on those kind of people. Only issue would be making sure not to be giving out to many sweet tax deals and have them pay like the rest of us.

And where is the money to pay off the bond going to come from now? The city still owes on the bonds utilized to build the structure in 1998. The bond won't be paid off until 2018.

And the motion to approve passed unanimously with no comment.

@cjsummers :

Absolute joke but not surprising. Seconded by Spain. What a schocker.
