I don't think this is in response to the shooting. In fact it was a PPD security officer that heard the shots at Glen Oak park and reported it. However, the security officers don't have access to the Peoria Police radio channels, so they have to report it to an actual Park PD officer who does have radio access. FYI. The park PD radio channel is not encrypted like Peoria PD's, so if you ever want to listen to a cluster ****

I wonder if any of the recent shootings are going to have an adverse effect on any events upcoming at Glen Oak Park.
No July 3rd fireworks probably hadn't been planned even if no shootings had occurred.

There have been several shootings at major events lately, including the Farmington Road carnival and what I believe was the last fair at the fairgrounds. Park gatherings have been happening one after another. Need Drones will act as watchful eyes, equipped with paintballs to mark suspects with blue dye.
FWIW, yesterday I shot a story at Glen Oak Park about their "FriYay" promotion. (Zoo open until 8, Playhouse until 6 every Friday during summer)
Zoo parking lot was packed. Big playground lot was practically full. Cars parked on both sides of the narrow street that goes in front of the Playhouse. As I looked for a spot, saw a big group of parents and kids (maybe 50 or more) walking toward Zoo entrance.
As I got video inside zoo, kept seeing more people walking in. They brought back the "Contact Barn" with goats that kids and adults can pet, groom, feed up close and personal.
No one seemed to be afraid of a random shooter suddenly opening fire.
