Graham Platner I didn't see a post about this so forgive me if one has already been started. I haven't really been following the allegations recently. When I first heard about allegations a while back, it was just one woman with ties to the opposing party with no real evidence. I was skeptical. When people were talking about it they kept bringing in the Not-C part and I believe him when he says he got a tat in the marines and thought it was cool. I hear that so many times for stupid tats. He addressed it when someone said it looks like a Not-C tat and covered it right away (unlike some others who see nothing wrong with displaying Christian Nationalist tats proudly). He's steadfast in his denial of the allegations. If it's another case of too much heat, gotta drop out... nah, that ship has sailed. If there is credible evidence of criminality, that's a different story. He said/she said isn't enough for me. Too many operatives lie.

Alarming too is a press conference was planned for this morning to announce he was withdrawing from the race. However, he canceled it and said he wanted a major say in who his replacement will be. Bernie Sanders has had a couple of calls with him and said that isn't the way the game is played. So there is a standoff of sorts.
In the meantime, there is a slowly growing consensus that former Maine Senate president, Troy Jackson would make a good replacement. He is from the very north of Maine, in Allagash. There are low hanging Trumpster voters there.

Republicans were said to have a briefcase full of information on Platner which they were going to release after the withdrawal deadline had passed. This story was not in the briefcase.Republicans were caught off guard and blindsided by it too.

Platner's candidacy should have ended when the nazi tattoos came out months ago. He claimed he didn't know they were nazi tattoos... um ok... a former girlfriend disputed his ignorance, so either you are tone deaf and dumb or lying .... all are strike outs.

Also, there was an article in the NY Times, around June 4 , that triggered alarm bells about Platner. It was only 2 sentences but it said all we need to know. Sanders and a very small handful of others read it and went ballistic. They called people in Maine and were told to sit down and shut up, So, here we are.
I do think that there are highly experienced people coming forward to run. Some of them could give Collins a major challenge and win it all. One of them has worked for a congressman from Illinois. Details later.

This is going to really, really impact Susan Collins too. Her campaign had THOROUGHLY researched Graham Platner. They had millions of dollars worth of ads ready to run etc.etc.,
Now she does not who she is going to run against. Yet, anyone of the Democrats know who they will run against. That may turn out to be a huge advantage with a little more than 90 days to run from when the Democrats have their convention and chose a replacement.
