It's dry out there Drought Monitor I sure hope we get some rain this weekend. My new and old plants are looking very thirsty and sad. It has been about three weeks now since we had any significant rain here in Springfield.

Weather Channel app said 100% chance of rain here this morning. I think the 100% was for 1 drop.

Ran into spotty rain on way to Bloomington. Because of that chance for rain, our Weather Road Trip today is indoors at the McLean County Museum of History.
Yep... they said rain this morning... then midday.... nope.
Had a bunch of bare spots in my front yard so I put in grass seed. Watered it and it came up well, but I've had to continue to do so since the sky isn't crying. I'm going to have to set up a GoFundMe to pay IL-AWC this month.
I haven't heard much from farmers about the lack of rain yet, but they've gotta be worried.

@Mahkno :
I saw some corn fields in Northern Illinois that looked pretty good last weekend. I don't know if they've received more rain than us.
Just an observation. For field corn, grandpa used to say "knee high by the 4th of July". (We always had sweet corn for the fourth...different story there). Now I've seen field corn head high by then. It really has to make you wonder what they've done to the corn to make it grow so fast. And because it grows faster, it is ready to pick sooner. I remember as a kid we would help on the farm on weekends and this was after school started in September. A lot of fields today are picked way before then.
