@NoTime :
I guess if you are into Base Jumping, surfing, Extreme Yodeling, and Spaghetti Knitting competitions, you might be bored in Central Illinois.

I was looking forward to the theaters re-opening after a facelift.

Renovations have already been underway in the movie theater space at Landmark, where the old theaters have been torn out, the stadium-seating floors leveled, and the space was being prepared for an undisclosed new venture, said Hicks.

"My heart goes out to the 40-plus years of Landmark bowling," Hicks said. "My family, your family, most of us have childhood memories attached to Landmark lanes, family friendly.

"In this new era the rebrand that's about to take place, U-Fitness is excited to expand and continue family friendly, community-centered activity based around fitness, sports and entertainment.

"One great era transitions into another, and there are big things to come."

With the exception of the Off-Track betting parlor,. Landmark was a place where you could take your family for bowling, arcade games, or movies.
The U-fitness place is staying, even expanding. I'll be finding out more later....

@PeoriaIllinoisan :
I went to get my bowling ball last night and the man at the counter confirmed the pickle ball courts.

@jannn1959 :
Interesting. That's what Bradley wants to build on their campus as well: pickle ball courts. I'm surprised this is so popular. Never played it myself. Do you all like it?

@PeoriaChronicle :
It's fun. It's great to have an activity that's geared towards the over 30 or 40 crowd. We go out to Normal when the weather is nice and play with a few other couples. Nice that we don't have to listen to loud music or kids arguing with each other.

My Chillicothe Sister in law likes playing pickleball a lot, as she used to play tennis as well. My wife has played pickleball with her a couple times. I've never played it, but I learned how to play tennis when I was a teenager.

The same sister in law was excited when there was an attempt by the Northwoods Mall manager to bring Pickleball courts there. But the manager got denied by Mall ownership.
So SIL should feel excited about Landmark bringing some.

Hard to believe this sport goes back to being invented in 1965.
