I look forward to your reports. I seriously doubt the " temporary bridge' you are referring to is...an actual bridge . My bet is a containment structure for demolition ...but could be wrong. Apparently, cars are driving around barricades. Looks ok, but do they know what has been done underside to support the bridge?
You should raise heck with IDOT or the contractor

@Skimo :
When one turns left off of Jefferson (or veers left off Fayette) they go down a hill under Adams and up a hill to get onto I 74. Putting a traffic control devise at the bottom of the hill makes me shake my head. Any heavy truck, vehicles which have bad acceleration, and anything else slow moving now needs to head up an incline from a dead stop and try to meet highway speeds. Besides money, I can't think of why when everything was closed, they didn't build the Adams overpass higher and make that ramp straighter on to 74 instead of the dip. I don't know why I care; I just avoid it and get on at Knoxville or farther up on Fayette near Carle Health.

It's going on 9 weeks now and the bridge has been unnecessarily closed to traffic and pedestrians, as no work to the actual bridge has been done yet. The rock delivery semi trucks have the privilege of using it. That big crane was down at Kickapoo creek pounding in pilings for the temporary bridge. It has been moved up the hill and across the bridge to the far side now. It looks like the temporary bridge is done. Bus service to the airport and the county jail just ends, with no attempt to use an alternate route to reach some of those bus stops on the far side of the bridge. If you ride the bus to work you're just left with no recourse. One guy crossed by taking his shoes off to cross the creek in the near freezing weather. A number of people used to walk across the bridge when it was open.

@MadScientist :
Bus service did not end. Citylink has a special shuttle running during the construction.

This isn't about unnecessary construction, but when are they ever going to work on west Main Street? It's a hot crumbling mess. I have to think Shadid is working every connection he has to get that put on the front burner.
