Now that's something that would interest me -- like when I visit family up north or on the east coast and got bored or just needed to get out of the house for a while, could I log into Uber and just start shuttling people around for an hour or two?

@EastBluffCynic : Yes, exactly! As I found out, different cities and states have different rules. I can drive in Chicago now, but I had to get a $20 vehicle inspection and register (free) with the city. On the other hand, Peoria, Bloomington, & Champaign (the only other places I've driven so far) had no special restrictions.

@PeoriaIllinoisan :
Do you know if Lyft can not pick
up passengers in Peoria and drop them off in Peoria? However it seems they can pick up passengers elsewhere and drop off in Peoria.
If so, do you know what is the story behind it?

@PeoriaIllinoisan : Give them time. I'm sure a fee/tax/$permit$/collect HRA tax/$$ per mile driven will be coming your way soon.

It was heartening to see someone that fell on hard times to do everything she could to do right by herself and her children.

@PeoriaIllinoisan : This is how and why we go door to door see we hear these stories. We get to talk to people who have hard times and show them that God Jehovah cares for them. Along with people who care for others. How many times we help ones just happening to be at the right moment.

@billybob : From what I understand, Uber is allowed to operate in the city but not Lyft. I believe it was from a city council ordinance from 2015.

Lyft's website also says they're not available here.
