The Tortured Poets Department

I keep calling it the Dead Poet's Society. I need to watch that again.

This is the first time I've listened to a Taylor Swift album, in its entirety, at the time of its release. I made a conscious choice to listen to this before the hype takes over and I shove it off for 20 years, which I tend to do.

I take full responsibility for helping send this to #1.

I wonder how well this will age, from a production standpoint? The 80's weren't kind to many musicians. Will time be kind to the 2020's synth pop? I doubt it.

My daughter is on vacation. Down the line when she thinks of California will this album come to mind in the way Nothing Compares 2 U does for me?

It's catchy. As long as I listen to it without people judging me for listening to it, it's really really good. She's not a kid anymore and this is far removed from teenybopper pop.

She can really write. Shockingly well.

It's endearing how she opens her heart and invite you in. No wonder why she's so popular, especially with women.

Time to switch back to my regularly scheduled tortured music before someone walks in and blows my cover.

@PeoriaIllinoisan :
I'm sure that someone who's never listened to her music will disagree with you.

My daughter was really into Swift's music, so on a car trip once several years ago, I got to listen to it non-stop. My comment was something along the lines of, "Wow, all these songs are specifically about her. She sounds very narcissistic." Weeks later, my daughter told me she couldn't listen to Taylor Swift now without thinking how narcissistic her songs were. Lol.
