@PeoriaChronicle :
apples and moonrocks
Barrett had a very, very, very slim CV. Wholly unqualified for a lifetime appt in the highest seat in her profession.

@AverageSue :
And yet, you agree with her recent votes on the court?

@PeoriaChronicle :
I agree she was unqualified for SCOTUS. I agree with her on some things and not others. None of the cases erased the fact she shouldn't have been confirmed, IMO. I'm saying your comment was comparing apples and moon rocks.

@AverageSue : Barrett is absolutely qualified for SCOTUS. The Constitution just says a Supreme Court justice has to be nominated by the President and confirmed by a simple majority of the Senate. She was. Case closed.

My earlier comment was not a false comparison. In our culture today, people don't really care whether someone is "qualified," but only about whether they agree with them. If they disagree with them, they claim they're not qualified, but then they praise them if they make a decision with which they agree. No one believes in objective truth anymore, so reactions are pretty irrational nowadays.

She was only EVER a judge (7th Circuit) under trump. Before that, a law clerk and professor.

@AverageSue : That's more judicial experience than Elena Kagan had. She had zero experience, but was nominated by Barack Obama. I presume you think she's unqualified to be on the Supreme Court as well, then?

@PeoriaChronicle :
I don't recall how far back I said this but I think a minimum of 10 years as a judge...

Yep. Same way people on here are against Musk until he comes out against Trump, then think he's terrific. Or hate Coney Barrett on the SCOTUS until she decides something the way they would like it decided, then praise her. Loving those who love you and hating those who hate you is the way of the world (Luke 6:32-36).

@PeoriaChronicle :
Wrong. We STILL don't like Musk.

I didn't give thought about musk until he got into policy. ACB was, and still is, unqualified, IMO. We can agree on some things with both of these people, but doesn't erase the wrong. Broken clocks n all that.
