Now that we are out of money who pays them to stand at the podium and rant. Must have enough to keep their lips flapping. As long as they get theirs its ok.

The White House announced a few hours ago that 1/3 of the Whiten House staff will be furloughed during the shutdown.

It remains to be seen which will happen first, the government reopening or Schumer being replaced as senate minority leader.

@billybob :
If those are to care for "The people". where is the health care provided, college funding, provide education, provide food and housing to the people. From what I see they get funding and hire everyone to give it out while that burns up the funding before it is getting to the needy.

From the AP article I posted in another thread:
"Schumer has handed "the keys of the kingdom to the president," Johnson said Thursday. "Because they have decided to vote to shut the government down, they have now effectively turned off the legislative branch … and they've turned it over to the executive."
No, Speaker Johnson, you and the Republicans gave up on being representatives of the people as soon as the President/Dictator started writing all those Executive Orders, bypassing what YOUR House should have been acting on. And then your Republican members backed away like cowards if they challenged any of his actions, because DJT threatened to support a 2026 Primary rival if they didn't pledge allegiance to him vs. the Constitution.

My opinion and mine alone and not my employer's.

@DennisinPeoria :
When a leader has 8 people in his own caucus immediate ready to vote not to close the govt. it shows there is a SERIOUS problem with the leadership and with in the caucus, Dispute multiple attempts at persuasion he could not persuade 3 and held the others together by a bare thread.
Schumer is playing only to AOC so she will not challenge him in a primary .
There is a rule of thumb for life and politics. Do not play all your cards at once and do not enter your horse in every race. When Trump goes on a rampage and fires thousands, Schumers problems will increase a thousand fold.

What's even more bizzare is that the 8 senators who wanted to keep the govt, open are from states that the Democrats very narrowly lost in 2024. A good leader would try to use that opportunity to try and make inroads.
in those places,

"the keys of the kingdom to the president,"

@DennisinPeoria : One way or another he is the king of this kingdom. Key to today is that knowing what is taking place. Doing wrong works of who. Those actions should show people what type of person they are. Evil lurks you read where some stated he was a good person, yet he broke laws or can you be good and bad at the same time. (1 Corinthians 10:21) 21 You cannot be drinking the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons; you cannot be partaking of "the table of Jehovah" and the table of demons.
People search for God Jehovah our creator. Showing the way to live by Jesus actions on earth. We do as he shown us. Tell others of the Kingdom seeing Jesus heal cure feed and teach of the God who sent him Jehovah. Today Jehovah allows wickedness to roam you see it in people. In the Bible its (Ephesians 6:11, 12) 11 Put on the complete suit of armor from God so that you may be able to stand firm against the crafty acts of the Devil; 12 because we have a struggle, not against blood and flesh, but against the governments, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.
Seeing how governments treat people. Actions seen stand against what is in place. So, Trump is the King of this Kingdom. He is not like no other is he.

The senate is voting to reopen the govt. If the bill fails, very possible there will be firings this afternoon. Keep a watchful eye to see what happens in Illinois, Oregon and New York State for starters.
On the slim chance it does not happen today, they will be given the weekend to fix things and vote again on Sunday.

This is not fake news. You can probably find it somewhere. Hypocrisy again from the President/Dictator:

This is the 18th day that the House has been in recess. Speaker Johnson is under increasing pressure, within his caucus, to call them back into session so they can work on solutions to an increasing number of issues.
