Road Construction Update August
Road Construction Update August Just announced today from The Illinois Department of Transportation that resurfacing of ramps on Illinois 6 at Knoxville Avenue (Illinois 40) in Peoria and Galena Avenue (Illinois 29) in Mossville begins Sept. 1.
The work will require ramp closures as follows: Sept. 1: The ramp from northbound Illinois 40 to northbound Illinois 6 will close at 7 a.m. for approximately two hours. As work progresses, northbound Illinois 6 past Illinois 40 will close in the afternoon for approximately two hours.
Sept. 2: Southbound Illinois 6 at Illinois 29 will close at 7 a.m. for approximately two hours as resurfacing proceeds on the ramp from Illinois 29 to southbound Illinois 6. The same resurfacing work on Rt 6 from I-74 to Knoxville is almost done, last time I went through there. Other projects:
I-474 WB Bridge near I-74 junction still ongoing. I'm hoping it'll be done by November
McCluggage Bridge WB deck replacement probably won't be done until next year.
In East Peoria, the bridge over Farm.Creek between Veterans and Camp/West Washington has reopened;
Cedar Street bridge reopened last week, only to be reduced to one lane each direction this week for bridge washing;
IL Route 116 still closed near Kickapoo Creek Road for overpass replacement. Not sure the completion date on that;
In Pekin, Court Street between 14th Street and 8th Street still ongoing. I avoid that when I can;
US 24 resurfacing between ICC and Main Street is done. They were getting striping done yesterday;
Route 29 in Creve Coeur had digital signs saying that road work was starting week of August 17, between Wesley Road and Poplar Street; then said week of August 24. Haven't seen even any barrels or cones out yet as of 4:30 pm today; I-74 between Rivian Parkway and I-55 junction is done except for striping. More to come, but feel free to add on anything I might have missed.
