@RambleOn : Eric's Great Steaks was the first successful establishment at that location on University close to the Metro Center. It's a shame how that story ended though.

Here's a fun article about steak houses in Peoria.

@JustRight : The owner of Eric's great steaks was accused of mistreating a young worker there. I don't remember the details but I remember it wasn't good for business.

Here is the recollection of the location and restaurants there from the article I previously posted:

"One location that was home to numerous "fast food" steakhouses is the current Culver's on University. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the order was Western Sizzlin", Sirloin Stockade, Eric's Great Steaks, and lastly Maverick. "

I don't think it was exactly at the same spot as Culver's. The building was a little further back on the lot.

@ricardo :
I don't think the Culver's building used to host Eric's Great Steaks either. Too small of a location. With Culver's being a chain, they probably demoed the area, built brand new according to their specs.

I had also forgotten about River Station as well. My wife and I used to rotate anniversary dinners between Jumers, River Station, The Chateau in North Pekin, and Miller's Cliftwood in Morton.

We also had a Mr. Steak in Pekin. Had great steaks there too. I took my senior prom date there for dinner. She preferred seafood though. Whatever she ate that night didn't settle with her, because after we danced 1 dance at Prom, she got sick, and I had to take her home.

@ricardo : The bank building just south of GFS and Culvers was the home to all of those restaurants. They tore down the old red barn to put in a drive through.
