@skutfarcus : I going to wait for the come back phone call, with a lower price. It normally takes a few weeks for them to call and ask why you dropped the paper

Before my parents got dropped by the Urinal Star for supposed non payment, they had a really good carrier. Today, they received a paper with a note on it from her saying she misses them as a customer. Aaahhhhhhh...... Tell your contracting partner newspaper to not be rip off artists and they would get the paper again.
Oh, well. Their neighbor has been bringing over his paper after he's done with it.

I had the 6 month online subscription for $1. Close to the end of the subscription, I called to cancel it. They didn't ask any questions and the call took less than 5 minutes. I also had a Rockford Register Star 6 month online subscription for $1 and I called to cancel that, as well. The same thing happened; no questions asked and it took less than 5 minutes.

We quit taking the paper about a year ago. They were charging $10.00 for a paper bill, and said that the only other alternative was to put a credit card on file with them. We weren't about to do that. Now my husband occasionally buys one on Sunday, and that's enough for us.

I subscribe to digital and find it absolutely worth it, but damn, they're sure milking this "best of" food thing. Best Sports Bars is their latest.

Call me old fashioned, but I honestly believe if they invested in reporters who actually would hit the beat and churn up some local news, I think that the printed paper could make a go of it again. There's enough people who yearn for news that isn't churned out from some reporter 10 states away.

By the time the paper is printed or I check the e-edition, I have already read most of the good stuff I am interested in on their FB page. I skim through the e-edition in case I missed something. Having the e-edition is worth it to me to be able to open and read the FB articles.

Mom ran into the carrier for her area that was really good. She quit as she had so few customers spread out over such a large area that the gas was costing her almost as much as she was making. Mom was contemplating getting the paper again as dad misses it. The neighbor who used to bring it to them after they were done with it are now in Florida for the winter. Now she is in a quandary of what to do because who knows if and when it will be delivered. The E-edition won't work for them as just getting them to the website is a monumental task LOL

I get the Sunday edition only. It hasn't been delivered the past 2 Sundays. The PJStar has to be the worst customer service EVER. And they don't seem to care AT ALL.

Just saw a blurb where the Peoria Journal Star is going to stop Saturday delivery.

So you have to buy a paper at a store, or no paper at all on Saturdays? If you're doing that, make sure you DO deliver papers to whatever subscribers you have left, because my wife has had to go out and buy a paper for her mom 2 days this week because she never got one.

Terrible, terrible customer service..probably the worst I have ever experienced,......seriously. And the kicker is that they just don't care,......at all.

So, my mom broke down to my dad's whining that he wants the paper, found a SWEET deal and signed up. They didn't even mention that she supposedly owed a month (see prior post about that). She knew nothing about them not delivering on Saturdays in the near future AND she was told they do not have a delivery person for the route they are on and may or may not get a paper. She asked if they missed her, why can't they bring one out? The reply was "we don't do that anymore". They told my mom to keep track of the days she didn't get a paper and they will give her credit. She heard that before and did she get credit? NO. "They didn't have a record of that". I can see my father getting in his truck, stalking the PJS truck that drops the bundles to the carrier, waiting until the truck leaves, and swiping his. It isn't stealing 'cause he paid for it, right?
