Trump could veto any legislation passed regarding the war anyway. Of course it doesn't necessarily mean the President has the power to start wars on his own to begin with. I don't know the legality of it.

I think I know what my protest sign will say on the day of the next No Kings rally. I'd like there to be a separate independent / former Republican group of people along the road.

Is it possible to move this to Fast Lane? Every other response is gray boxed.

@MadScientist : This is a great idea! We need to see more right-leaning folks against this corrupt regime. I know some Rs that are very much against this regime and will be voting D because of this mad king. They are still R... but for now, voting D. I used to be a right-leaning Independent but I only had a toe or two on the R party side a decade ago... now no toes.

I am left of center, but have voted for several R over the years. It has been getting harder and harder to do it, even as a protest vote. Mom used to say that FDR made a Republican out of her. Wonder is anyone is saying that DJT has made a Democrat out of them?

@RambleOn :
I've always been left of center on the cultural issues and the Rs I've voted for were also left of center on those topics as well. As the Rs because less and less fiscally responsible, and pushed the cultural wars so much, nothing left for me on the right.

When we start agreeing with MTG on anything we know that something is very, very seriously wrong.

I still don't like her [M.T.G.], but she's right.

@skutfarcus :
1) The war hasn't even been on for a week. It's a meaningless statistic, like saying that "more Americans are working than ever before". In the first 5 minutes of the war you could say it is costing a trillion dollars per day.

2) Because the left and much of the rest of the establishment is sold out to that industry and will not do anything to lower the cost of health care.

3) Due to higher expectations such bigger houses, more vehicles, children being expected to not have to do any work, and generally a higher and more entitled standard of living, more expensive housing, building codes written to benefit companies involved in construction, and section 8 housing creating a shortage of rentals and therefore higher rent charged. The blame for this goes all over the place, not just the left.

4) It might actually be part of a plot do deliberately stir up conflict that is part of a longer term goal or some other nerfarious thing such as taking over mineral wealth or drug production. I doubt that killing people and their children is the primary goal.

@skutfarcus :
Indeed. It could very well be that Cuba starts up long before Iran is over. Could also be that people start fleeing in boats before things really get going. That will be most interesting as Trump has stopped asylum being granted to Cubans,

@skutfarcus :
Cuba is furious with the US for cutting off the oil after our excursion into Venezuela.
If problems really start up in Cuba and the US ships oil from Venezuela to Cuba, that could well be a serious political problem in the US if things in Iran are not resolved. Especially if oil is still way up, Only recently has that become a possible scenario for some people to think about,

Its frackin genius!!!!

Start a war that will drive up oil prices, possibly to levels never seen before.

With the Straight of Hormuz closed there are some serious structural problems with oil distribution. India, China, Japan ... the far east in particular are most impacted. While there is plenty of oil elsewhere in the world, the travel time is great and more expensive. There is also the problem of available refineries.

So our great negotiator and 'Peace' President has suddenly decided to help his bros out in Moscow and New Delhi by 'permitting' the Russians to sell oil to India. As if the 'Peace' President's permission was needed. So now Russia can sell more oil at higher prices!!!

We have handed to Russia a pathway out of the debacle in Ukraine. Russia was running out of money. Before we attacked Iran it was hard to see how Moscow had the money to fight another year. The surge in oil prices has brought new life to Russia's war efforts.

As we all know Iran and Russia have been pretty close. Iran's domestic arms industry has thrived with trade to Russia for the war in Ukraine. Naturally ... and not surprisingly we find out that Russia is helping Iran with targeting of U.S. forces. Russia has satellites too. How can Russia afford to help Iran target U.S. forces?.....

Oh yeah... our dear Peace President has given Russia higher oil prices and permission to sell... Trump has literally enable the funding needed to target U.S. forces and enable Iran, with the support of Russia to prolong the conflict. And why not... Europe and the U.S. has been helping Ukraine all along.

So there you go... start a war and literally help the opposition fight the war against us better.... frackin genius.
