New Local Restaurants

Been driving in East Peoria near Office Max, saw signs for new BBQ place called "Smokin' Notes". Apparently they were on Sterling some years ago, had to close, and now are back where Cummins Family Restaurant was (then Wrap.City). I haven't tried it yet, but lots of good reviews on Google Maps. They have sides that include Candied Yams and Collard Greens. (For little extra $)

Tried to bring menu with pics and prices up, but all say "Unavailable". They close at 9 pm, so wonder if that happens because website thinks you're placing an order.

Another place opening soon is along Brandywine Drive on the Ground floor of an office building. According to the sign, it might be a Chinese buffet with American entrees, similar to Grand Village buffet that used to be in East Peoria. I know I'd check it out.

That sign on Brandywine has been there for going on 2 years. Not sure how "soon" they are going to open. Lol

@kraziebill : probably jumping all the City of Peoria hoops. One of many reasons why I would never start another restaurant in Peoria. I remember when Sully started Sullivans in the Heights. He was in shock how easy it was to start a restaurant in the Heights compared to Peoria.

Seems potentially risky move.... the Bob Michel bridge is going to be closed from March until November. Sure there are other bridges but people's driving habits are weird. The levee district gets a lot of business from people below the bluffs in Peoria. Whether they take the other bridges or not remains to be seen.

Because of the bridge closure and massive theft issues... I could see Wal-Mart shuttering.
