The Middle East War Expands

An escalation of fighting in the Middle East, partially because of Iran. This is between Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi, who control a big portion of Yemen:

Excerpt: "The Iran-backed rebels say they have closed the Bab el-Mandeb Strait to Saudi-linked shipping in retaliation for the kingdom's blockade on Yemen and a recent attack on the international airport in Yemen's rebel-held capital, Sanaa. The Houthis said on Thursday they had attacked two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, causing fires to break out on both."

Fortunately, the Saudi can still export oil via a pipeline under the Red Sea, or north to the Suez Canal. The Houthi are only blocking Saudi shipping, no other countries.
But the fact that Houthi is backed by Iran poses this question: Will the Saudi, who are good friends with the President, ask him to send military forces to counter this blockade? Or does Saudi Arabia have enough military forces of their own to deal with this?

It is possible that the Saudi's can contain this for now. However, by an increasing number of people, there is very likely to be an October surprise by Iran because of the midterms. Something, an involving the Houthi is near the top of the intelligence concerns.

One of the handful of things I supported Trump on, was the "no more forever wars in the Middle East" campaign promises...so much for that idea.

There is growing concern that the Suez Canal will be next. Before that,it is probably a given that Yemen will,be attacked very, very soon.Thatis the training ground for the Houtis.

So, since the Cease-fire has ended, US and Iran trading all kinds of missiles and drones back and forth, and Saudi and Houthi now at each other....

Where is Israel and their military? Especially since I think they cajoled DJT into the initial February attack?
Why aren't they helping the US with getting the Strait open?
Or are they concerned with wiping out Hezbollah in Lebanon still, and still doing attacks in Gaza and the West Bank?

Israel and the U.S.'s strategic interests are not the same. Not at all. I think Netanyahu goaded Trump into attacking Iran, to distract Iran and prevent them from helping Hezbollah in Lebanon. Since Assad fell in Syria, arch-conservatives in Israel have made no secret in recent months of their desire to expand Israel into a Greater Israel. Seizing the entirety of Lebanon is part of that vision. I think Israel's goal was primarily to make it easier to go into Lebanon. If the U.S. could achieve regime change in Iran, all the better for Israel.

There was an extremely contentious meeting Friday nigh at the White House. Vance and the Joint Chiefs of Staff are greatly concerned about launching a major escalation because of the shortage or pending shortage of munitions . Especially, the Patriot Missiles which would make the US bases in the Mideast and our allies in the Mideast very, very vulnerable.

There is the secondary problem that Netanyahu is coming to the US to meet with Trump and to attend Lindsey Grahams funeral. If an escalation started it would be extremely challenging and dangerous for Netanyahu to be flying through a war zone during an escalation. Plus the political optics of being away from home during an escalation would not be good. Especially, with his election coming in Israel even before the US midterms. General consensus in Israel now is that Netanyahu party would have 49-51 seats in the Knesset . 61 seats is a majority.

After a few days pause on firing missiles on each other, the US and Iran are back at it. Despite Donny's claim that Iran is begging to get back to negotiations, a claim that Iran says is false.
This time, Saudi Arabia joined the US by shooting missiles towards Iran.

@kraziebill : The US uses Brent too... we have to. Diesel primarily comes from Brent... not WTI. WTI is good for regular gasoline and chemicals... the heavier stuff like Brent is what moves economies... aka diesel and bunker fuel for ships.
