He also recently said that the increasing price of oil is a small price to pay for defeating Iran.

@billybob :
How long were we "at war" in Iraq? Afghanistan?
If Russia, Iranian-backed Hezbollah forces or other countries are contributing anything to help Iran, this will not end in 4 weeks. Or 4 months. Or when DJT'S out of office unless he finds a way to stay in power past January 20, 2029. We know he's working on that.

And increase in oil prices no doubt are stuffing extra $$$ profits in pockets of his Big Oil Billionaire friends.

My opinion and mine alone and no one else.

@DennisinPeoria :
They seem to be paying close attention to the gas prices. Susie Wiles, Trumps chief of staff, sent out a memo to White House staffers to send her ideas on how to manage the gas price increases. The first idea that came out was to put a freeze on the federal excise tax for a year, Problem is that if Congress voted to do it, no guarantee the lower prices would filter down to the consumer,

@billybob : There's no guarantee that all the gas stations won't decide to raise the price of gasoline by 50 cents either. All you need is one station to lower the price accordingly and the rest should follow to compete.

Higher oil prices are generally good for the US economy. High prices mean more international demand for the petrodollar, and iflation is reduced and everything that is not related to oil does better. It's not the proper long term solution to moving away from a paper economy, it does the opposite, but that's how it works.

Drivers reduce speed and car accidents go down. More efficient rail transport gains popularity. People are less wasteful about travel.

Quite possible that there is a brewing conflict between Trump and Netanyahu. Especially, given that Sen. Lindsey Graham has contacted Netanyahu and told him that he has gone too far. Graham was, for lack of a better word, demanding that Netanyahu avoid civilian attacks. There is no possible way that Graham would contact Netanyahu without telling Trump in advance.

Dow is down over 800 points today. Concerns over stagnation are growing, Within the last 12 hours multiple CEOs have contacted some higher ups in the govt, about their growing concerns Afterwards, they also contacted some former members of Congress to express their concerns. That is an extraordinarily unusual move to say the least.
In addition some high level people in the travel and hospitality industry have expressed fear that 11.7 trillion spent on travel and recreation is in serious jeopardy.

This isn't re: the economy but is related to the Epstein War. Just read that trump won't rule out a draft to fight his war.

@AverageSue :
That is true. If that happens it means Trump is going to put boots on the ground in Iran. He sees the upcoming corporate layoffs increasing unemployment, So, draft young people and give them a job which helps the unemployment.The question is how long would it take to do all this?

What a tough talking proven coward;
gcaptain.com/trump-t ells-ships-to-show-s ome-guts-in-hormuz-a s-seafarer-deat
"President Donald Trump urged commercial vessels to continue sailing through the Strait of Hormuz despite escalating attacks on merchant shipping, saying shipowners should not be deterred by security risks in the world's most important oil transit chokepoint.

"These ships should go through the Strait of Hormuz and show some guts," Trump said in an interview with Fox News. "There's nothing to be afraid of… they have no Navy, we sunk all their ships."

The remarks come as the maritime industry confronts one of the most dangerous operating environments for civilian shipping in years, with missile strikes, drone attacks, and unexplained explosions reported across the Persian Gulf region since the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran escalated in late February.

Security data compiled by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) shows the scale of the deterioration. In its latest incident summary, the organization reported 13 incidents involving commercial vessels between February 28 and March 8, including 10 confirmed attacks and three reports of suspicious activity affecting ships operating in and around the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman.

The attacks have transformed one of the world's most critical maritime arteries into a volatile conflict zone.

The strait normally carries roughly 20 percent of global oil shipments and a significant share of LNG exports, making it one of the most strategically important waterways in global trade. Even short disruptions can ripple through energy markets and global supply chains.

Seafarers Caught in the Crossfire
The violence has already taken a deadly toll on civilian crews.

At least seven seafarers have been killed and several others seriously injured in attacks on commercial vessels during the crisis, according to Arsenio Dominguez. Speaking Monday at the opening of the Sub-Committee on Ship Systems and Equipment at the International Maritime Organization, Dominguez said the rising casualty toll highlights the human cost of the conflict for the maritime workforce.

"As I have said on numerous occasions, any attack on innocent seafarers or civilian shipping is unacceptable," Dominguez told delegates. "These seafarers are simply carrying out their duties and performing an essential service to the global community, ensuring the continued flow of goods and energy."

Dominguez reiterated that freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle of international maritime law and called on all parties to ensure that merchant vessels and their crews are protected."
