A WMBD anchor and I interviewed (for end of Hispanic Heritage month) a lady that crochets blankets and hats, and gives them away to new moms, or moms to be. She has a Hispanic name, but you wouldn't know it, as her English is impeccable. No accent at all. She and her husband are US Citizens.
As we talked off camera, she talked about that her husband and her usually take a trip to Mexico for vacation. Not this year, because they're afraid of being detained at the border by ICE, even if they have all their documents. She also indicated some US citizen Hispanic friends did go to Mexico, and encountered being stopped, questioned, detained coming back over the border. Other friends are also afraid of going.
Now, doesn't that sound like Nazi Germany with Hitler's Gestapo, stopping people even in the Germany borders, asking for "Ihre Papiere, bitte"
"Your papers, Please"
