My daughters Christmas concert at the High School her sophomore year. Not a world tour, but certainly the most important concert I've ever attended.

@ChefKevin The best concert I *never* went to was in '91/92 as I was talking to my (later to be) wife on the phone; at the time I was in Peoria and she was at MU.

What's that in the background?

"Oh, that's the Rolling Stones, they're playing at the Football Stadium."

long time reader, 1st time poster. as a lifelong musician and concert nut since 74 I joined just to share mine. This August, Billy Joel @ Wrigley was amazing. Never thought he'd play for 2 and a half hours @66 yrs. Most of the shows nowadays, your lucky to get 90 minutes. My tastes are all over the place. Richie Blackmore's Rainbow in Springfield w/ Dio singing was awesome in like 78 or 9. Blue Oyster Cult in same venue(old armory) around same time. Journey & doobies state fair grounds 78(S Perry's 3rd show w/ band). all 8 times I saw Rush, 6 times @ Genesis. 2 solo P Collins shows. Elton twice, Paul twice in the 80's. ELP twice in 78. all 10 times I saw Yes from 78 to 2001. James Taylor 3 times in the last 10 yrs. Moodys twice, once w/ peo symphony. of course Dan F. w/ band and solo. Day in the park @ Comiskey in 78 or so, Molly Hatchet, Eddie Money, Thin Lizzy, Santana, & Journey. As already mentioned, VH @ Second Chance in 78 when 1st album came out and Eddy wasn't wasted and Dave could sing.

@4string

Nice list. To make a list of multiple shows per band, I've seen Rush 8 times, Metallica 8 times, Sabbath 6 times, Iron Maiden 3 times, Korn 3 times, The Dead twice, Dave Matthews 4 times, Ozzy 4 times.....

@chef: the crazy part is I'm sure we've all spent more on tickets in the last 5 yrs, then the last 20 or 30. I remember being upset about spending a whopping $16 per ticket for the Fleetwood Mac mirage tour @ the checkerdome in stl. Spent 135 per for Billy Joel @ wrigley this yr, but it was a bucket list thing and the wife's kids bought hers for her bday. kinda made up for the $9 dollar bud lights lol

@crafty: that pretty much trumps any show I've seen. I've been blessed to see lot's of great shows, but can't even compare to that

@4string I think the most I paid was $125 for Fleetwood Mac on their last tour with Christine McVie before she "retired". Bob Seger was a close second.

As I've seen all the big names I've wanted to see when ticket prices were reasonable (except the aforementioned), the artists I go see today are "up and coming" or not famous yet and can usually be seen for less that $25.

Several years ago, I saw Chickenfoot (Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith) for $35. They played 2 1/2 hours and Hagar played drums on one of the encores.

Has anyone seen The Legends impersonators at the Civic Center theater? Earlier this year they had one and they were awesome! Also the Happy Together tours that feature the real artists from the 60's and 70's. Always well attended & so much nostalgia and fun!
