I say they won't be back down until just before the November elections.
@DennisinPeoria: I'm guessing they wont be back down in Illinois, but will here in Texas. Even during normal election years when there isn't a war, that's normally what happens. It's like the Republican-controlled oil companies like to punish blue states during election time.
Currently the cheapest gas in my area (Grand Prairie, TX - borders Dallas to the west) is $2.969/gal at BJ's. Walmart is $2.989 and the QuikTrip gas station near Walmart is $2.999. Across the tollway at a 7-Eleven/Exxon it's $3.059. Before the war started, it was $2.699/gal when I filled up on 2/22.
